Do once seemingly easy tasks feel hard to accomplish? Do you find yourself avoiding situations that make you feel uncomfortable? Does everyday life feel hard, or difficult to manage? Do you ever begin to wonder why your life just feels “off” or the joy in life is harder to find than it once was? If you do, you are not alone. Sometimes life experiences can impact us more than we know, and that’s okay.

Many of us experience life events that leave a lasting impact on us and change our lives. Sometimes these experiences can lead us to feeling disconnected from ourselves and from others, or maybe you've experienced feeling frozen, unexpected anger or the urge to flee situations. Sometimes it may feel as though you are stuck or can't move forward, like something is holding us back. Understanding the connection between thoughts and feelings and how these manifest in our bodies is important in finding ways to move forward.

Impactful life experiences can lead to unhealthy coping skills such as substance use, or feelings of depression and excessive worrying. These trauma responses can often lead to difficulty in concentration and executive functioning and disrupt the way we live. Together we can identify the impacts your life experiences have had and work together to develop ways to help reprogram your nervous system and establish healthy habits. I enjoy using nature to allow individuals to restore their mind, body and soul through connection in nature and the natural world around us and find ways to fill your cup.

In addition to the trauma work, I also have a strong passion working with those in caregiving roles such as nurses and nursing home staff, first responders, social workers, counselors, and primary caretakers for elderly or those with disabilities. Within these roles it can be difficult to find time for self-care, or find ways to “fill your cup.” Being in high stress environments, working long hours, or having to carry the weight of your work can make it difficult to show up and have compassion for ourselves and others, or continue to find motivation for activities you once loved. It can also impact other areas of life such as disturbances with sleep, feeling emotionally exhausted or feeling detachment to your work or your family and friends. I can help provide tools to target symptoms of burnout, and with connection to nature can help find ways to unload daily stress and find ways to help refill your cup.

Many times people may debate reaching out for help, or feel that reaching out is a sign of weakness. While you may be debating I want to offer these reassurances. I'd love to help you in your journey to find meaningful connections to who you are as a person and the world around you. Through creating a collaborative partnership and a safe therapeutic relationship we can begin to work together to identify areas you wish to grow.  I can offer tools on how to identify stressors and barriers in life and through a solution-focused lens using psychotherapy combined with a nature based approach, I can help you find healing and growth and begin to find the joys of life that have been difficult to find.
